Classic Inca Trail to Machu Picchu (4D/3N)
Day 1: Day 1: Cusco - Huayllabamba
- We will pick you up from your hotel in the city of Cusco. We will head towards Piscacucho, located 45 minutes away, at km 82 where you will begin your walk towards the Inca Trail.
- We will continue our excursion at a relatively slow pace along the Urubamba River, until we reach the archaeological site of Llaqtapata. The walk will take approximately 6 hours. Upon arrival you will have a spectacular view of the citadel of Machu Picchu.
- Afterwards, you will enjoy lunch around a beautiful setting.
- After a rest, we will continue the walk through the lateral valley that begins to gain altitude until we reach the last town of Huayllabamba.
- We will arrive at Huayllabamba and begin preparing for the camp.
Day 2: Day 2: Huayllabamba - Pacaymayo
- After an early breakfast we will begin the day's hike, during which we will pass through several different climatic and ecological zones on the way to Warmiwañusca, also known as Dead Woman's Pass.
- On the way we will pass through abundant vegetation and several types of native trees in an area that is considered the highest cloud forest in the world.
- After the hardest part of the trip, which lasts almost 5 hours, we will reach the highest point of the route.
- From there we will take a well-deserved rest and observe the beauty of the deep valleys and the beautiful landscapes. If we are lucky, we will see the magnificent condor appear among the thick clouds in the sky.
- After our break to rest, we will descend to the Pacaymayu camp where we will spend our second night.
Day 3: Day 3: Pacaymayo - Wiñaywayna
- This is the most diverse day. We will begin in the morning with the ascent through the archaeological site of Runcuracay, located at 3900 meters.
- Then we descend the other side for approximately 2 hours to the beautiful Sayacmarca archaeological site.
- After having explored this fascinating place, we continue on the original stone path of the Incas through the semi-tropical cloud forest of Phuyupatamarca, located at 3800 meters.
- From here we will have spectacular views of the snow-capped peaks and the valley. From this point, the road will be downhill to our camp in 'Wiñaywayna', one of the most beautiful places in the area due to its construction and surroundings.
- We will arrive at Wiñaywayna and start camping.
Day 4: Day 4: Wiñaywayna - Machupicchu - Cusco
- Early, you will start the walk and after a 2-hour journey through the cloud forest to the famous Intipunku Sun Gate, we will have the first impressive view and the best panorama of Machu Picchu.
- After freshening up a bit, you will begin the tour of Machu Picchu, learning the history and mysteries of this Sanctuary, which is one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.
- With the freshness of the morning weather and the energy felt from the impressive landscapes everywhere, you will be able to take incredible photographs.
- Finishing your visit inside the Citadel, we will descend by bus to the town of Aguas Calientes where you will have time for lunch.
- Finally, we will take the train back to Ollantaytambo.
- You will arrive in Ollantaytambo around 5:50 p.m. and from here you will be transferred to your hotel in the historic center of Cusco.
